This exhibition revisits modern and contemporary ceramics from different movements such as “mingei” (folk craft) that remains attracting attention even after more than a century, “avant-garde ceramics” like object ware after WWII, and ceramics created from human connections in recent years all through the lens of community design.

Experience the exquisite and dynamic brushwork of Miyamotoya Kiln’s Kutani Akae Ware, with intricate patterns densely painted. Rarely seen masterpieces of Kutani Akae are presented in one place. The delicate designs and craftsmanship of the Edo period are truly amazing. The messages contained within the patterns are also worth noting.
