Symposium Part 1
From the Perspective of the Artists in Residence:
“Shigaraki’s View of the World . . . The World’s View of Shigaraki”
We will hear reports from people affiliated with various residential programs as well as ceramic artists in residence from the Ceramic Cultural Park who have worked there, in an effort to understand the current state of residency programs around the world. Here we would also like to help in building a global network of ceramic art-related residence programs. Those who are considering working in ceramics abroad should not miss this chance to gather information about the various opportunities.

Symposium Part 2
“From Shigaraki – Considering the Possibilities of Clay”
In the Residency Program at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, a variety of artists have come to create work in the medium of clay. As a result, we have been able to expand the expressive boundaries and possibilities of clay. From functional craft expressions through ceramics as modern art, the possibilities of clay expand according to the artist’s desires. By hearing about each artist’s approach to clay, we hope to provide an opportunity to think about the possibilities of ceramic art today.
